Biography

I am a KU alumna and really enjoy being able to teach here at my alma mater. It is important to me that all of my students feel welcome, and that each student is given the opportunity and resources to succeed in my classes. My goal each semester is that will we learn AND have fun along the way.

Research

Research Projects

My current research projects focus on: 1) understanding student metacognition in different course contexts, 2) student self-regulated learning behaviors (i.e., attendance, educational resource engagement, etc.), and 3) departmental and institutional change.

Curriculum Development & Evaluation

I find it fun and rewarding to develop, evaluate, and disseminate educational materials and curricula for the courses I teach. I have published field-tested curricula for immunology and immunology lab. My current efforts are focused on developing and evaluating new curricula with an emphasis on incorporating primary scientific literature and on course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs).
